Abstract: A millimeter wave based adaptive multi-beamforming scheme for high-speed railway (HSR) vehicle-ground communications is proposed in this paper. In the proposed scheme, multiple beams with different beam-width are formed by base station simultaneously to improve the system throughputs. In the multi-beam transmission method, the outage probability could be decreased as well.Unfortunately, the inter beam interference (IBI) is introduced when multiple beams transmit signals simultaneously. Therefore,an adaptive algorithm adjusting the activated beams in real time is presented in this scheme to mitigate the IBI and maintain an optimal throughput at current time.Theoretical analysis and simulation results suggest that the proposed scheme can improve the system throughput with a lower outage probability in HSR vehicle-ground communications.
