Abstract: We presented a modified methodology for remote sensing human respiration signals using a Microsoft Kinect sensor. This method is suitable for obtaining the respiration signals when a object is sitting.According to the results of a controlled experiment, the error between breathing rate obtained from Kinect and the one obtained from contact measurement is 0.4%,and different breathing patterns can be detected through the respiration trace measured by Kinect.
