Abstract: In the recent years, researchers all around the world have actively studied wireless multimedia technologies using network coding and have achieved promising results so far. This paper first analysed the opportunities and challenges for networked multimedia streaming,and introduced the frequently-used mechanisms for multimedia streaming with network coding, and then summarized theirs latest research advances in typical wireless multimedia application scenarios, i. e. , wireless multimedia multicasting/broadcasting/unicasting and wireless video conferencing. At last, the open issues of this research field were proposed.
