一种基于Android系统网络模块功耗的评估和分析

摘要: 嵌入式移动便携设备由电池供电,而电池容量却受体积和重量的制约,因此嵌入式移动设备的功耗问题成为 研究的一个关键问题。分别采用WIFI和GPRS两种接入网络策略,研究手机系统功耗的变化。实验结果表明,小流 量模式(l0kb/min)下两种策略电池使用时间减少约5000,大流量模式(2 Mbit/min)下能量消耗更快,减少约8500;在 传输相等的数据量下,WIFI模式比GPRS模式省电。在两台基于Android系统平台的真机上进行了实验,结果表明, 研究降低手机移动网络模块的功耗具有十分重要的意义。

Abstract: Embedded system devices, especially portable mobile devices, arc powered from batteries which arc limited in size and weight, Therefore power becomes an important challenge to embedded system devices design. To investigate this problem, we used two strategies WIFI and GPRS to access the network and measure the changes of the system power consumption. hhe conclusions arc as follows: under both two strategics the battery life time decreases about 50 0 0 in the small flow mode (lOKb/min) and decreases more rapidly about 85 0 o in the big flow mode (2Mbit/min). Under the same condition, the devices consume less power in WIFI mode than GPRS mode. hhesc results were validated by two Android devices. The experiment results demonstrate that it is very important to find techniques to reduce the po- wer consumption of mobile network modules.
