Abstract: First, it was proved that interval valued vague sets is not the generalization of vague sets based on the con- ventional definition in this paper, and a novel interval valued vague sets were presented. Then, we proved that vague sets and interval valued vague sets are both special cases of novel interval valued vague sets. And then the concept of inter- val-valued vague sets with parameters (IVVSP) was proposed. Based on membership and non-membership, this paper focused on the construction of IVVSP. Finally, a pattern recognition example and a medical diagnosis decision-making example were given to demonstrate the application of IVVSP. I}he results of simulation show that the method of IVVSP is more comprehensive and flexible than that of the traditional vague sets.
