Abstract: In the development of the usagccentcred collaborative work system, it is urgently required that usability problems can be found and corrected in the early stage, causing the evaluators to have clear understanding on the usage contexts of the system. This work further needs to be supported by an effective collaborative task model. However,neither the existing interface models nor the singlcuscr-oriented usability inspection techniques could well work on the basi}level of collaboration units and the us}context of team work. Therefore, this paper proposed a new collaborative work system model as viewed of usability evaluation, on which a discounting usability inspection-walkthrough approach is applied. This method is able to achieve low-cost usability evaluation in the curly stage of software development cycle to detect usability problems by iteratively simulating the use situation in real-world. At last, an experiment showed that the approach has some advantage than several traditional techniques.
