Abstract: We proposed a novel location service for urban vehicular Ad-hoc networks called ILSV (Intersection Location Service for VANET) , a distributed location service algorithm that makes use of the features of street intersections and traffic rules. We demonstrated these traits and its performance by providing extensive simulation in a wide range of urban scenarios. Compared with GLS and HLS, ILSV achieves good results in terms of query success ratios and remarkable scalability with respect to network size.
