Abstract: It is difficult to draw reliable results from a single experimental study. Therefore, there is a need to use a method to combine the results from multiple experimental studies. This paper introduced a meta-analysis technique for this purpose, described its application in empirical software engineering, and pointed out the problems that need to be addressed in the future.
