Abstract: In order to improve the efficiency of edge detection, and decrease the noise impact of the image edge detection, the algorithm of image edge detection was proposed based on mathematical morphology. hhe concept of Multivariate structural elements was introduced, and an improved morphological edge detection operator was proposed, which can effectively detect the edges of the image with noise,and keep the edge smoothness. Experiments demonstrate that comparcel with traditional edge detectors, this edge detector has a good performance of noise immunity, a better real-time perfor-mance and a certain practicality and feasibility.
