Electromagnetic Field Volume Rendering Based on CUDA

Abstract: Electromagnetic field data generation and volume rendering are dense computation and time-consuming on CPU.To meet the requirements of rapid computation,the CUDA-based architecture of electromagnetic field data genera-tion and ray casting rendering algorithm were designed respectively for GPU’s highly parallel ability.Considering of the characteristics of electromagnetic field data,a method to judge ray and data intersection was presented which utilizes 3D data’s projection on detector along view direction.Simulation test results show that data generation on GPU can achieve a speedup of 158than on CPU,and ray casting algorithm renders in high FPS perfectly.
